The Daughters of Bluegrass was an idea conceived by bluegrass artists Lorraine Jordan and Gena Britt.  They decided that since there were so many great women pickers and singers in bluegrass why not bring them all together for a recording project showcasing those talents.

Their first album, “The Daughter of American Bluegrass” was released on CMH Records in 2005 and nominated later that year for the 2005 International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) Recorded Event of the Year.  Since that time, the Daughters have recorded two more albums including: “Back to the Well” winner of the 2006 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year and “Bluegrass Bouquet,” winner of the 2009 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year for the song, “Proud to be a Daughter.”

Individually, the Daughters have won a multitude of awards throughout the years including but certainly not limited to:

- 2009, 2008, 2007 IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year - Dale Ann Bradley
- 2009 SPBGMA Songwriter of the Year Award - Dixie and Tom T. Hall
- 2009 SPBGMA Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year - Jeanette Williams
- 2009 SPBGMA Banjo Player of the Year - Kristin Scott Benson
- 2010, 2009, 2008 - SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year (Cont) - Rhonda Vincent
- 2010, 2008 - SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year (Traditional) - Alecia Nugent
- 2000-2006 IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year Award - Rhonda Vincent

The Daughters of Bluegrass perform with their own bands, but also perform select dates as “The Daughters of Bluegrass” including the upcoming DAUGHTERS OF BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL. Stay tuned for more information coming soon on this great event.
